PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS SCHEME

ACCOUNTABILITY | RECOGNITION | CONSUMER PROTECTION

On the 1st of July 2021, SCA (NSW) launched the first Professional Standards Scheme for strata management in Australia, participating in the highest form of consumer protection regulation approved by the Government.

A landmark scheme for the profession, at its forefront is a further commitment to consumers to ensure high professional standards across the strata industry in NSW.

SCA (NSW) members must meet additional requirements for compliance, professional education, risk management and professional indemnity insurance. Meeting these standards protects clients and businesses, reducing operational risks and building trust and confidence among consumers and stakeholders.

As the initial 5-year scheme comes to an end. SCA (NSW) is in the process of applying to the Professional Standards Council of New South Wales (Council) for approval of a new professional standards scheme for a further 5 year period.

If approved by the Professional Standards Council, the renewed Scheme will run from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2031.

As part of the approval process, the proposed Scheme renewal is now open for public consultation. This consultation gives the public, industry members and other stakeholders a chance to review the proposed Scheme and share their feedback.
