PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS SCHEME

Being a member of SCA (NSW) means you are recognised as a professional strata manager under the Professional Standards Scheme (PSS). As part of this, you are required to undertake additional professional development designed to enhance your skills and elevate professionalism across the industry.

PSS REQUIREMENTS 

The Professional Standards Scheme requires SCA (NSW) Professional Strata Manager or Strata Practice Employee members to complete a set number of continuing professional development hours from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.

Class 1 Strata Manager members belonging to SCA (NSW) must complete 7 hours of Professional Standards Scheme CPD between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027:

These hours consist of:

  • 4 hours – Professional Standards Scheme Compulsory topics delivered online via the SCA (NSW) Education Centre (access via the SCA (NSW) member portal):
    • Business Risks in Strata
    • Mental Health Awareness
    • HR Essentials
    • Ethics in Strata Management
  • 3 hours – Professional Standards Scheme Elective

Class 2 Strata Manager members of SCA (NSW) must complete 6 hours of Professional Standards Scheme CPD between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027.

These hours consist of:

  • 4 hours – Professional Standards Scheme Compulsory topics delivered online via the SCA (NSW) Education Centre (access via the SCA (NSW) member portal):
    • Mental Health Awareness
    • Roles & Responsibilities of Strata Committees
    • Meetings 101
    • Ethics in Strata Management
  • 2 hours – Professional Standards Scheme Elective

Assistant Agents/Certificate of Registration holder members of SCA (NSW) must complete 6 hours of Professional Standards Scheme CPD between 1 July 2026 and 30 June 2027.

These hours consist of:

  • 3 hours – Professional Standards Scheme Compulsory topics delivered online via the SCA (NSW) Education Centre (access via the SCA (NSW) member portal):
    • Mental Health Awareness
    • Asset Management in Strata Schemes
    • Ethics in Strata Management
  • 3 hours – Professional Standards Scheme Elective

PSS COMPUSLORY EDUCATION

Class 1 Agent: 4 x 1-hour online courses.
Class 2 Agent: 4 x 1-hour online courses.
Assistant Agent: 3 x 1-hour online courses.
Strata Practice Employees: 1 * 1-hour online course.

PSS compulsory are mandatory topics set by SCA (NSW) during each CPD cycle. To achieve your PSS compulsory hours, you must complete those mandatory topics which are made available in your SCA (NSW) Education Centre. The topics are chosen specifically to your licence category to ensure what you are learning is topical and will support you in your everyday role.

PSS ELECTIVE EDUCATION

Class 1 Agent: 3 hours.
Class 2 Agent: 2 hours.
Assistant Agent: 3 hours.
Strata Practice Employees: 2 hours.

There are many ways to earn PSS Elective hours. The choice is yours! Explore the topics that spark your interest and support your professional goals. 

Ways to obtain PSS Elective hours: 

  • Viewing Webinars 
    • SCA (NSW) webinar recordings are available in the SCA (NSW) Education Centre. You obtain 1 hour of PSS elective per webinar. 
    • You can attend external webinars and submit attendance certificates via the  SCA (NSW) Member Portal – how to submit external hours. External webinars are awarded 0.5 hours of PSS electives per 1 hour of training, as per the SCA CPD Policy, and are subject to approval. 
  • Attending Eligible Events 
    • Throughout the year, SCA NSW delivers informative and practical sessions, providing an opportunity to earn PSS hours, network and share knowledge. Check out our upcoming events here. 
    • You can attend external events and submit attendance certificates via the SCA (NSW) Member Portal – how to submit external hours. External events are awarded 0.5 hours of PSS electives per 1 hour of training, as per the SCA CPD Policy, and are subject to approval. 
  • Participating in SCA Volunteer Activities  
    • Presenting at SCA events or webinars 
    • Participating in SCA committees
