SCA (NSW) PROFESSIONALISM

Professionalism is the cornerstone of SCA (NSW) and the foundation on which our association was built. Since 1980, when a challenge was issued to create a professional body for strata managers in New South Wales, SCA (NSW) has remained committed to raising industry standards, fostering ethical behaviour, and promoting continuous professional development.

All SCA (NSW) members are bound by a Code of Ethics, a clear and public statement of the values, principles, and conduct expected of our members. This Code sets the benchmark for ethical practice in all dealings with clients, colleagues, and the broader community. It reinforces integrity, accountability, and professionalism as core expectations of SCA (NSW) membership.

To support these standards, we maintain a formal Complaint Management Process, ensuring that concerns around member conduct are taken seriously and addressed appropriately. Anyone—whether a client, colleague, or member of the public—can raise a complaint if they believe an SCA (NSW) member has breached the Code of Ethics.

Our commitment is further strengthened through participation in the Professional Standards Scheme, which places SCA (NSW) among a select group of professional associations regulated by the Professional Standards Council. Under this scheme, we:

  • Self-regulate member conduct within a structured professional framework;

  • Offer access to an independent complaints handling process beyond our internal procedures; and

  • Require increased CPD obligations to ensure our members remain informed, skilled, and accountable to their clients and the wider community.

Through these standards and safeguards, SCA (NSW) ensures that professionalism is not just a value—it’s a practice embedded in everything we do.
