The Strata Community Association (NSW) is pleased to announce that its Professional Standards Scheme has been approved by the Professional Standards Council for a further three-year term, starting on 1 July 2026.
The renewal reinforces a continued commitment to strengthening consumer protections and maintaining high professional standards across the strata management industry in New South Wales.
The Scheme remains a cornerstone of professional accountability for members, requiring adherence to rigorous standards in education, ongoing professional development, ethics, risk management and consumer protection. These requirements are designed to ensure strata professionals continue to deliver safe, transparent and high-quality services to the communities they serve.
In its correspondence to SCA (NSW), the Professional Standards Council acknowledged the sector’s ongoing efforts to improve standards and enhance consumer protection outcomes. It also recognised SCA (NSW)’s constructive engagement with regulators throughout the review process and its commitment to continued reform.
Robert Anderson, SCA (NSW) President, said the renewal reflects both regulatory confidence in the Scheme and the professionalism of the industry.
“While this is a significant achievement for our Association, the real outcome is stronger protection for consumers living and investing in strata communities,” the President said.
“The Scheme ensures that members are held to high and enforceable standards, and that consumers can have confidence in the professionals managing their buildings and communities.”
The renewed Scheme builds on existing foundations, with an ongoing focus on lifting standards across the sector through education, ethics and consumer-focused practice. It also expands participation to include Strata Practice Employee Members, further embedding professional standards across all levels of member organisations.
Nearly two years ago, a newly formed SCA (NSW) Board set a clear strategic priority to retain and strengthen the Professional Standards Scheme while continuing to elevate industry standards. This renewal marks a key milestone in delivering on that commitment.
SCA (NSW) acknowledges the work of the Board, Committee members and Secretariat throughout the renewal process, as well as the contribution of staff involved in preparing the submission.
However, the Association emphasises that the most important acknowledgement belongs to its members, whose commitment to education, ethics and professionalism underpins the Scheme’s success.
“This outcome reflects an industry where the overwhelming majority of professionals act ethically, diligently and in the best interests of the communities they serve,” Robert said.
SCA (NSW) encourages members to recognise this milestone and continue to be “Proud to be a Professional” as the sector further strengthens consumer protections into the future.
