With sudden cardiac arrest being one of Australia’s leading causes of death, nearly 80% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur within Australian homes. Each year, more than 32,000 Australians experience a cardiac arrest out of hospital. Cardiac arrests can happen to anyone at any time, at any place, with the risk being much closer than many realise.

To help strengthen community readiness and ensure more Australians can respond with confidence during a medical emergency, Strata Community Association SCA (NSW) has partnered with St John Ambulance (NSW). The partnership empowers SCA NSW’s network of strata communities across the region to improve access to automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and provide residents with the confidence and knowledge to act in a medical emergency.

With nearly 1 in every 117 Australians experiencing a cardiac arrest each year, this equates to anywhere between 70 to 80 cardiac arrests each day, the need for community preparedness has never been more important. And with almost 80% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happening within the home, Strata Community Association NSW is committed to keeping the Australian communities health and safety at the heart of its mission.

This new partnership between Strata Community Association (NSW) and St John Ambulance (NSW) aims to improve access to automatic external defibrillator (AED) devices and empower a strata community with the knowledge and access to this vital equipment to save the life of resident who may suffer a cardiac arrest in their home.

Strata communities can take advantage of a special partnership promo to make it easier and more affordable to install Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in their buildings. Click here for further information.

“We know that cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, at any time,” said Robert Anderson, President of Strata Community Associated (NSW). “By working with St John Ambulance, we’re giving strata communities the tools and confidence to take immediate action, because fast access to an AED can be the difference between life or death.”

Dominic Teakle, CEO of St John Ambulance NSW added “We’re proud to support Strata Community Association NSW in helping strata residents’ become confident first responders in their own homes. This initiative won’t only save lives, it’s helping build a safer, stronger Australia.”
