As a long-suffering Wests Tigers fan, I know a thing or two about loyalty and trust.
I know that loyalty and trust are not the same thing.
Loyalty can keep you coming back season after season. Trust, on the other hand, must be earned through actions, transparency and accountability.
As a strata manager, I’ve seen firsthand how trust can be built at the micro level. It’s strengthened one interaction at a time, through conversations with owners and communities, in the advice we provide, and in the way we navigate all the challenges that come our way.
Now, as President of SCA (NSW), I see how trust operates at the macro level and serves as the lens through which our profession is judged in the face of critique. It underpins the confidence that consumers, regulators, government and the broader community place in the strata sector.
While these are two different perspectives, they’re inseparable. The trust built in thousands of everyday interactions becomes the foundation of our profession’s reputation.
Every conversation, every decision, and every positive outcome contribute to the confidence people have in strata management as a profession, and the role our Association plays to support you in doing so.
As we roar into the second half of 2026, I’d like to reflect on four things that have made me especially proud to serve as President of SCA (NSW).
#1 – Professionalism – The renewal of the PSS
One of the most significant achievements this year has been the approval of The Strata Community Association (NSW) Limited Professional Standards Scheme, by the Professional Standards Council for a new, three-year term, from 1 July.
The renewal of the scheme is particularly welcome news, and reinforces the high standards expected of strata professionals and demonstrates our industry’s commitment to meet rigorous standards of education, professional development, consumer protection and continuous improvement.
This wasn’t simply an administrative exercise, and the scheme remains one of the most important commitments our Association makes to supporting our profession.

#2 – Stronger Advocacy for Our Profession
Advocacy continues to be one of the Association’s most important responsibilities, and one of the most valuable services we provide to members.
Behind the scenes, this work involves hundreds of hours engaging with NSW Fair Trading, Minister Chanthivong and other members of the NSW Parliament to ensure the voice of the strata sector is heard in current and future policy discussions.
It also includes the development of detailed submissions on a wide range of industry issues such as Emergency Services Funding Reform and the Property and Stock Agents Amendment Act, prepared in close consultation with our dedicated Policy & Legislation Committee.
Advocacy isn’t always visible, and it rarely comes with immediate results. More often, it’s built through relationships, persistence and having a seat at the table when important decisions are being made.
#3 – Commitment to Education
Education underpins a strong and trusted profession.
This year alone, SCA (NSW) members have already completed more than 20,000 hours of professional education, a remarkable achievement that highlights the value our members place on learning and professional development.
That commitment not only strengthens individual careers but also elevates standards across the entire strata sector, ensuring better outcomes for clients and greater confidence in our profession.
#4 – Our members.
Of everything that’s been achieved, it’s SCA members who make me the proudest!
Every day, professional strata managers are helping communities navigate complex legislation, difficult conversations, financial decisions, building defects, maintenance issues and the countless challenges that come with managing shared property.
Much of this work happens behind the scenes and mainly without headlines, fanfare or recognition! Your work is appreciated and valued!
The second half
The second half of the year promises to bring even more opportunities to learn and connect through our events, forums and our Annual Convention.
As we look ahead to the NSW Election in March 2027, we’ll also be stepping up our advocacy efforts. That includes supporting the campaign to Scrap the Tax through Emergency Services Levy reform, continuing discussions with Government on insurance commissions, and championing effective outcomes for our sector.
Thank you for everything you’ve contributed so far this year in building trust in the wider community for our profession and for the loyalty you continue to show our Association. I’m excited about what’s still to come for our members… even if you’re a long-suffering Wests Tigers fan like me.
